Openness and Transparency
One of our clients said that she knew and intimately understood our investment recommendations when she was presented with her retirement plan. Why? To precis her own words :
“Because you’ve told me absolutely everything I need to know about where my pension will be invested. Even if this doesn’t work out as expected, at least I understand what you’re recommending.”
We have an absolutely solid commitment as a company to openness and transparency when it comes to client dealings. The costs and risks to Mrs T’s retirement goals were fully laid in front of her. This helped us to secure an otherwise highly sceptical client.
Lifelong Education, Learning and Improving Our Skills
We strongly believe in the value of a great education. We are firmly of the opinion that a trusted adviser wants to sharpen his skills every day, even just a little. We truly believe that exams are a great opportunity to safely test what we know and understand before giving advice to a client. That is why we are on the road toward Chartered Financial Planner status.
For better or worse, that’s what we believe at Opening Doors Finance. Would it not be a little unwise to entrust the company accounts to an accountant with tax knowledge that is even 1 year out of date? Likewise, surely we wouldn’t go to a Surgeon using implements common in the Falklands War if surgery had advanced significantly in the last 30 years, would we?
Therefore, why not seek out a financial planning firm that enjoys being as up to date as is humanly possible, given the constant change in the finance industry?
Continually updating our skills as a firm means that we can take the time to “educate” a client in their pensions, investments and taxation needs because this helps the client to make decisions with firm foundations.
Integrity, Honesty and Candour
In short, we would rather walk away from a relationship that does not allow us to rest easy at night, than engage a client on terms we know are not achievable. Would-be clients appreciate our ability to turn business away if this means best advice.
The Law of Fair Exchange
We expect to work extremely hard for you as our client. That for us is a given. We want to be there, with you, for many years to come and to help you realise the financial future of your choice. In return, all we ask is to be fairly rewarded for our expertise, professional advice and the intellectual property that we use to help you work toward your financial goals.
